Boat Rotting on Land by Mike Jackobo

A boat rotting on land at the small harbour of Kopraina, in western Greece. Kopraina is one of the places I always visit when I visit my parents’ hometown in western Greece. It once was a prosperous port and the warehouses and the trolley system to transport the fish to the warehouses is still visible. Now the infrastructure operates as a museum and educational area on environmental awareness for the area.

The prosperous times are a thing of the past for the port. There are still fishermen doing their work there but there are also many abandoned boats left to rot, either on land or in the water. In parts of the port, there are also reeds having grown so big that they are sticking out of the water. These are visible in the photo as well.

This is one of those boats rotting on land. I thought that the alternation between land and sea was an interesting backdrop. The still water of the harbour is another interesting element that the background.  The only problem is my feeling that all these elements draw attention from the main theme. Nevertheless, I like it, so I decided to include it in the photos to present in the Photoblog.

I don’t think I ever posted both a normal and an infrared photo of the same theme. I couldn’t really choose between the two, so I present them both in the same article.
